Biotec scoops top accolade at MediWales innovation awards

South Wales Biopharmaceutical firm Biotec Services International has received a top accolade for Export Achievement at the MediWales Innovation Awards.
The achievement completes a very successful 2008 for the Bridgend based company, which has experienced a 68% increase in export sales in the last year and an almost 100% increase in revenue as a direct result of its marketing activity in the USA and Israel.
Managing Director, Marc Weinzweig, said, “I am delighted that Biotec received the award for Export Achievement at the MediWales Awards. Over the past year we have invested a great deal of time and effort into developing relationships with new clients in both the USA, Japan, Canada and Israel with the assistance of Welsh Assembly Government funding”.
“The funding enabled us to develop a 12 month marketing strategy that not only involved attending several key biopharmaceutical conferences but also producing vital company literature, a new and updated website and an exhibition stand. Our US sales alone have increased by 97% since 2007”.
“Biotec has been going from strength to strength over the past twelve months and we have experienced rapid growth in our international client base as a result of our aggressive US strategy. The networking we have done in the US has resulted in an increase in enquiries from new US clients by 150%”.
The receipt of the Export Achievement comes hot on the heels of the company’s move to its new custom-built £1.5 million facility in Bridgend. Following rapid expansion over the past decade Biotec had outgrown its original premises and required somewhere with more space to meet the needs of its growing client base. The company also changed its name to Biotec Services International Ltd to reflect its continued growth of clients internationally, particularly in the USA, Canada, Israel and Japan.
Biotec Services International Limited was established in 1997 and works on behalf of global pharmaceutical companies, many located outside the EU, looking to conduct clinical trials and market products in Europe.
