Biotec Services International Limited is continuing to expand its team of registered Qualified Persons to help meet the growing demand for its pharmaceutical services.
The addition of Jill Harris as a consultant QP and employee Tristram Evans embarking on QP training follows the rapid and continual growth of the company in the last 12 months and will expand the QP team from five to seven.
Marc Weinzweig, MD of Biotec comments, “The company has grown at a remarkable rate throughout 2008.   We have had an increase of 97% of US sales since the start of the year and are currently running in excess of 80 clinical drug trials for clients internationally. With 45% of new business coming from North America we required the additional support from Jill and in turn Tristram in order to handle the influx of new clients demanding clinical trials”.

Jill Harris is a quality specialist with a particular expertise in the behavioural aspects of quality control. She has got 20 years experience in QC, QA and R&D roles within the pharmaceutical and associated industries. Jill has a wealth of people management experience having spent three years as head of training, development and communications with GlaxoSmithKline on a site employing 700 people.

Jill is also a registered QP, a licensed Business Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a member of the Institute of Quality Assurance Pharmaceutical Quality Group.

Tristram Evans, who started his two-year QP training in September, has been working at Biotec as a Quality Assurance Manager since 2007.  After graduating with a Chemistry degree from University of Wales, Cardiff, Tristram joined Penn Pharmaceuticals as a Quality Control Analyst. This was followed by the position of Quality Assurance Auditor at Norgine where he gained a wealth of experience performing audits to ensure GMP compliance.

Marc Weinzweig commented, “I am delighted to welcome Jill to the QP team at Biotec and know that her knowledge and expertise will be put to good use with the number of clinical trials we are working on.  As well as recruiting external consultant QP’s, it is important to invest in the training and development of existing employees. Tristram was keen to take on the commitment to the training and has the appropriate skills and knowledge, so he was the ideal candidate for the course.”

“I have ambitious plans to make Biotec one of the largest pharmaceutical out-sourcing companies specialising in temperature sensitive pharmaceutical drug trials in Europe”.

Biotec Services International Limited was established in 1997 and works on behalf of global pharmaceutical companies, many located outside the EU, looking to conduct clinical trials and to market products in Europe.
